Afterthoughts — Hand-crafted Artist Book

Afterthoughts is a hand‑crafted artist book developed to extend the themes of a photographic series exploring fragility, decay, and the quiet beauty found in overlooked objects. The book is conceived as a physical echo of the images themselves, inviting a slow, intimate engagement that mirrors the temporal processes depicted in the photographs.
Concept, photography, design and construction has been made by me.

The publication consists of eleven sheets of thin Japanese paper, loosely stacked and sewn together with a brown zigzag seam. Each sheet measures 42 × 15 cm and holds two photographs, revealed one at a time as the pages are turned. The delicate, sketch‑like construction reinforces the ephemeral quality of the motifs, while the high‑quality prints create a deliberate contrast between vulnerability and precision.

When placed on a stand, the pages lift and separate, giving the book a subtle three‑dimensionality that echoes the sculptural presence of the objects in the series. Afterthoughts is both a photographic work and a tactile object, a quiet meditation on time, attention, and the resilience of what appears fragile.
